Canton Court Docket Searches
City citations begin at the Canton Municipal Court page. It names the municipal clerk, the courthouse, the payment route, and the courtroom entry rules. County cases work differently. A matter filed in Cherokee Superior, State, or Magistrate Court belongs to the Cherokee Clerk of Courts search instead. So read the citation closely. The court named there tells you more than the city name alone.
- Read the citation or notice and record the court name, citation number, date, and response instruction.
- For a Canton Municipal Court citation, open the city-directed EZCourtPay route and use the public fields it requests.
- Review the displayed payment or court-date information against the notice. A vendor route is not a certified docket copy.
- If no Canton result appears, call Municipal Court Clerk Teresa Fitts rather than assuming the case is in Cherokee State Court.
- If the filing belongs to a county court, use the county Clerk of Courts route and confirm the setting with that division.
Canton publishes no public sample docket results. Use the city calendar, the clerk line, your citation, and the linked payment route for access.
EZCourtPay for Canton Citations
For paying a citation, Canton points users to EZCourtPay. The public landing screen asks for a Citation Number, Last Name, DOB, and Search. Those four fields handle citation lookup and payment. They do not open a full Canton court register. If the notice requires a hearing, or the citation cannot be paid online, the city clerk and the notice control what comes next.
The city page also lists an in-person option at the Public Safety and Municipal Court Building and a phone option at 1-800-262-0128. A vendor search may locate your citation. It cannot tell you whether a court document is certified or whether a hearing date moved.
| EZCourtPay field | Use in the Canton route |
|---|---|
| Citation Number | Enter the identifier printed on the Canton notice. |
| Last Name | Use the party name requested by the public search screen. |
| DOB | Use the date-of-birth field in the vendor format. |
| Search | Submit the citation lookup; confirm any result with the city notice. |
Save the payment confirmation with your citation. For a docket entry, a case outcome, or a certified copy, ask Canton Municipal Court which record and copy process applies.
Inside the Canton Municipal Court
Canton Municipal Court sits in the Public Safety and Municipal Court Building at 151 Elizabeth Street, Canton, Georgia 30114. That is not the county courthouse. The Frank C. Mills III Justice Center at 90 North Street houses the county courts and the Clerk of Courts, and both buildings share the same county seat. A Canton city citation still belongs with the city court route.
Teresa Fitts serves as Municipal Court Clerk. The city lists 770-704-1546 and municipal.court@cantonga.gov. Its court page covers traffic, ordinance, and misdemeanor work, plus payment and courtroom instructions. The city posts no separate certified-copy fee schedule.

Check the official Canton Municipal Court page for current building and clerk details. It is the right local source. Use it when a citation or city docket question does not fit the county portal.
Canton Public Safety Court Building
Two courthouses serve Canton, and mixing them up wastes a trip. The Public Safety and Municipal Court Building at 151 Elizabeth Street handles city cases. The Frank C. Mills III Justice Center sits at 90 North Street. That one is the county justice center. A Canton citation missing from a Cherokee County search is often just sitting in the other building's clerk line.
Canton's entry rules call for business-casual dress. Phones go off or silent. Cameras and audio recording require prior approval. Purses or bags stay out unless they hold case documents, which may be inspected. These are courtroom-entry rules only. They do not mean a case is sealed from public record access.
Finding Canton Court Dates
Court dates for city cases surface through the municipal court notice and the city calendar. The city page has posted a 2025 list. It shows arraignment dates at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and trial dates at 9 a.m. Treat those dated entries as historical. Never reuse them as a current schedule without the live city calendar or a call to the Municipal Court Clerk.
A calendar event lists a date, time, location, and phone contact. That helps confirm where a session sits. But the citation and current court notice remain the case-specific source. A vendor date may conflict with your citation. In that case, call Canton Municipal Court before paying or appearing.
| Date | Use the date on the Canton citation or current city notice; the published 2025 list is historical. |
|---|---|
| Time | City calendar entries may show a 9 a.m. or 2 p.m. session, but the case notice controls. |
| Location | Municipal Court sessions use the Public Safety and Municipal Court Building at 151 Elizabeth Street. |
| Judge | Confirm the assigned judge or courtroom through the current city notice or clerk. The captured city source does not provide a universal judge assignment. |
| Setting type | Arraignment and trial are listed as city calendar categories. A calendar label is not an outcome. |
Canton Calendar Event Fields
Read a Canton calendar event as a scheduling record, nothing more. The official event format gives date, time, location, and phone information. That differs from a party-level docket result. An event can show when the municipal court plans to sit. It lists no citations. It proves no case was called.
Your Canton notice may name a date absent from an older web list. Follow the notice. Ask the clerk to confirm. The city offers no separate sanitized party-result screen or copy-fee schedule.
- Date
- The scheduled municipal-court day shown by the current city event or notice.
- Time
- The session time, such as an arraignment or trial block, not necessarily an individual call time.
- Location
- The building named for the city court event. Confirm a move or remote instruction with the clerk.
- Phone
- The contact number in the event or city court page for confirmation, not a substitute for the case record.
The official Canton calendar event format is the source for these field distinctions.
Canton Traffic Ticket Lookups
An ordinary Canton traffic citation starts on the city's EZCourtPay screen. Enter the fields it asks for. Check the answer against the ticket itself. Canton prints any non-payable or required-hearing instructions right on the citation. City traffic matters stay in Canton Municipal Court. They will not show up in a Cherokee County Clerk search on their own.
School-speed notices travel a different road, with their own vendor and notice process. County-wide differences run among city tickets, Cherokee State Court, Magistrate ordinance matters, court dates, and copy requests. Take the Cherokee County traffic court records route.
If a hearing is required, a payment link is not a waiver. Call the city clerk. Or follow the response instructions printed on the notice.
Canton School-Speed Violation Route
Canton school-speed notices sit outside the ordinary Municipal Court ticket search. The city's materials point recipients to secure.speedviolation.com and list 833-360-4341. Hearing and contest directions come on the notice itself. Follow that notice's own deadline and process rather than the general county traffic vendor window.
The separation matters. Canton runs more than one citation path. EZCourtPay is the public municipal route for ordinary city citations. The school-speed vendor carries notice-specific civil instructions. Keep the notice and any vendor confirmation together in one place.
The school-speed route may show nothing. Contact the city through the number on the official instructions. A missing vendor entry does not mean no Canton record exists.
How Canton Cases Reach the County
A Canton Municipal Court citation stays a city matter. Felonies, county-filed misdemeanors, and civil cases run through the matching county court. Anything else filed in Cherokee County does too. Treat the Cherokee Clerk of Courts search as a fallback for county filings. Never use it as a universal lookup for Canton city citations. The Cherokee County court docket overview walks through the county-level split.
Docket flow: Canton Municipal Court › Cherokee County Courts › Cherokee County Superior Court, Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit
Think of the flow as a routing aid only. It does not mean every Canton case enters the county system, and a city payment result is never a county docket entry.
Canton Municipal Court Versus Cherokee State Court
Canton Municipal Court and Cherokee State Court are separate courts. Each has its own clerks and citation routes. Canton takes city matters inside its municipal jurisdiction. Cherokee State Court takes county-filed misdemeanor and traffic criminal cases, and those run through the State Court Criminal/Traffic department of the Clerk of Courts. The court named on the citation decides which record to request.
A Canton citation may go through EZCourtPay or an in-person city route. A county State Court matter may use the Clerk-linked FivePoint payment route. It may also use a county calendar. Or it may use the State Court phone line. Either way, neither payment screen replaces the court's complete file.

Who Can See Canton Court Records
Canton Municipal Court records live with the city court and its municipal clerk. Any request should name the citation or case. Add the document you want and the office that holds it. The Georgia Open Records Act sets a broad baseline for inspection and copies. But exemptions, court orders, protected information, and the actual holder of the record still control what you get.
A calendar entry is not the full case file. A payment receipt is not automatically a certified copy, either. Ask Canton Municipal Court about its copy process. The city publishes no separate certified-copy fee schedule.
Key rules:
Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. ยงยง 50-18-70 through 50-18-72 sets the inspection and copying baseline, subject to exemptions and the named custodian.
Uniform Municipal Court Rules 5.1-5.2 describe municipal criminal and other-action docket categories and entry timing.
Uniform Municipal Court Rule 6 addresses copies from the municipal clerk and public access under applicable law.
Canton's 32,973 Census Population
Canton's population is 32,973. The 2020 Census incorporated-place list ranks the city second among the five Cherokee cities profiled for local court access. That number counts people, not cases. The city's own materials publish no current Canton Municipal Court filing total.
The population context does help explain things. The size matters here. A city this size supports a dedicated municipal court building, a clerk contact, a calendar event format, and a vendor route. None of that merges Canton Municipal Court into the county Justice Center. Jurisdiction and the court named on the citation still decide where a case belongs.
Canton also publishes entry rules that belong to the city court itself. These are practical. Business-casual dress, silent devices, inspection of documents, and the ban on cameras or audio recording describe how to attend a Canton session. They say nothing about the Cherokee County Clerk portal. Nor do they establish that a county case is pending in Canton.
For current dates, payment routes, and access rules, use the official Canton Municipal Court page. A Census figure is not a measure of docket volume.
